Therapy for Depression
Humaning is hard.
Depression can affect every aspect of your life from eating and sleeping to your memory, weight, relationships, grades, work, concentration, physical health, friends, family, mood, feelings, emotions, decisions, interactions, self-esteem, self-image, confidence, and most importantly, how you take (or don't take) care of yourself. Depression can be very serious and symptoms should never be ignored. (*Please note symptoms can be different for adolescents.)
Adults may experience or display any combination of the following symptoms*:
Feeling sad, empty, discouraged, or hopeless
Diminished interest or pleasure in activities, including sex
Significant weight loss or gain
Decrease or increase in appetite
Insomnia (trouble sleeping)
Hypersomina (tired during the day, sleeping too much)
Feelings of restlessness/agitation (fidgeting/can't sit still)
Sluggishness, slowed movement, thought, speech, verbal response delay (long pauses when speaking)
Fatigue or loss of energy
Feelings of worthlessness or excessive/inappropriate guilt
Feelings of being a burden to others
Diminished ability to think or concentrate, indecisiveness
Recurrent thoughts or discussion of death, suicidal ideation, suicide attempt(s), selling or giving away possessions

In addition to the above, adolescents may also experience or display the following symptoms:
Irritable/cranky mood, anger, acting out
Increased time spent alone/isolating
Poor/decreased school performance and/or attendance
Failure to realize expected weight gain
